Happy Birthday Whitney!

Today our girl turned 7....7 whole years. How very fast time flies.

Whitney is such a joy to have in our home. I am so glad my only girl is just like her. She keeps us happy with her pleasant disposition. She is always coming up with ways to serve, help or love everyone around her. She constantly has a project that keeps her hands and mind busy. She is very creative and loves being a girl. She is a peacemaker in our home and an amazing sister to her brothers. She has such a warm caring heart and wants everyone to be happy. We are so glad that she is ours. We love her so much. Happy Birthday Whitty!

Don...I mean Barack!

As we enjoyed our Authentic Mexican 6" flour tortillas tonight I thought HEY......I thought good ole Barack was from Hawaii? Maybe posing as a Mexican Tortilla Boy helped his campaign. Don Pancho may need to find another poster boy or at least give our government some sweet moola for Mr. Obama's advertising. I like your sombrero-----AAARRRREEEEBBBBAAA!

The Johnson Way

....of entertaining the 2 year old "baby"! The excitement and wonder lasted about 4.5 minutes! Not bad, not bad at all! Pretty ingenious way of using the crib mobile one more time before it finds itself in the DI! (If I do say so myself.)

Congrats!

Walker received his Bear Award tonight at pack meeting. We are very proud of his hard work! He has an amazing cub scout leader, his mom, who thinks life is pretty great with him around. His scout shirt is becoming very colorful with all of his segment patches-they will now be spilling over onto the second row! We are blessed to have such a great 9 year old!

It has been one of those days that I need "THE BLOG" to vent express some frustration with normal life. However today my title would not fit into the "Fun at Park" or "My life is just rainbows and butterflies" or "My kids are the greatest on the planet" category!

Granted, I DO have amazing kids, I am blessed and I am not so lazy as to never take my kids to the park. But let's face it! I am not perfect, my husband is so not perfect, and my kids are just kids! Catastrophe did not happen today, no one was hurt, abused or sent to bed without their Cheerios and banana dinner. The kids went to bed happily after bedtime stories. I am just a tired worn out Mom that has experienced Groundhog Day once again and need to sleep like a baby and be rejuvenated for another! So with that in mind, here is my grumpy--oh, I mean, real life happens---post for the day. Included is a list that needs to be accomplished tomorrow---preferably before the monsters awake!

I need to embrace the fact that I am not the FUN PARENT, but the pick up these things (for the 10th time), get homework done, please practice your piano/violin, I am going crazy, quit beating him up, did you get your room clean?, no you cant eat junk--eat your dinner PARENT!

I need to PAY UP the dollar I owe to Walker for a few 4 letter words that have been muttered the last few days. (Not really bad 4 letters, but 4 letters none the less!) Uhhhhhhhhhhh.

I need to finish sweeping the cracker crumbs out of MY bed with a smile on my face and decide MY room is OK to be the family's free for all, or keep it dead bolted when the animals/kids get home from school. (even though the rule of the house is no eating unless your bum is on a kitchen stool--in the kitchen of course)

I need to enjoy my front and family rooms being disguised as the dirty storage rooms. The construction zone in the basement will soon smell like fresh paint and new carpet. Walker & Whit will have their own space, we will have a toy room, my garage will no longer look like a tornado hit and everything in this whole entire house will have it's place or be in the DI! Yipee!

I need to be thankful that the 3 spills that Wes awarded me with today on the carpet were only mini marshmallows and water! (It was not red punch, barf or poo!)

Thank you for the vent, I feel better already and good night!

Family Prayer

It was Wes' turn to say family prayer last night. It is everyone's favorite when it is his turn. We all think he is so blasted cute. His voice is adorable and he tries so hard to fold his arms and close his eyes (although it lasts for 2 sentences---then he opens his eyes to meer slits and looks around for any unsuspecting giggler.) We have the lectures, dirty looks, threats, and discussions about being good examples and then we all end up on the floor laughing when AMEN is said. Here is how it all went down.

Heavenly Father-- FADER
Thankful for this day-- DAY
Thankful for Dad and Mom-- MOMMA, DADDA
Thankful for our warm house-- BRRRRRRR
Thankful for the food we always have to eat-- HAM

Looks and laughter from everyone!
Still more laughter......
(Me making the executive decision that we need to be done.)

7 Interesting Facts

I was tagged by my good friend Megan! I am supposed to list 7 interesting facts about myself that not a lot of people may know. Here is my attempt!

1. One of my favorite sounds is hearing crumbs, junk and debris sucked up into the vacuum. Weird I know, but exhilarating!

2. I love to watch my children sleeping. The sound of their breathing, and in Wyatt's case talking in his sleep brings a smile to my face and peace in my heart. Especially after a crazy stressful day it is refreshing to see them as the angels that they are and to be reminded of why you love them so.

3. Popping Bubble Wrap. With either feet, fingers or both. Fantastic! Jeff had a patient who received a hand-held digital popping game for Christmas. Trust me it is now on my Wish List!

3. I love a good practical joke. Giving or receiving, I am game. As long a good belly laugh that makes the stomach muscles sore is involved!

4. Shopping gives me a High! Usually at TJ Maxx, the Fabric Store, or even Online! (Not a huge selection for us Idahoan's) Until lately, I have not realized what an addiction it is for me. Sometimes I think it freaks Jeff out--although I have only seen him clutch his chest and grab a paper bag to put over his head a FEW times.

5. I hate, hate, hate socks on my FEET unless they are blue from the cold. I want them out of the covers at night and I want people in my family to not touch them unless they are giving them a 10 minute massage.

6. When I bake I crave a Diet DP, Pepsi or Coke. Doesn't matter which kind, just hand it over! It does have to be cold and straight from the can. None of this iced with a straw or cheap 2-liter crap. The first sip as it burns and stings on the way down is my fave!

7. I pace when I am talking on the phone. My sister Jill calls me when she needs to get something accomplished. I usually pace and sometimes park it...and enjoy the conversation. I have been known to add an extra ingredient to dinner, put the wrong shirt on the wrong kid or neglect some little bum that needs to be wiped for a few too many minutes all while gabbing and trying to do 2 things at once. I am a multitasker but I will not win an award in that subject while on the phone.

I tag....

Saunja
Mel(ina)
Beav aka Nicole
Amy

and whoever else feels the need!

Baby Chicken

I just caught my daughter of 6 years gently placing an egg from the fridge into a cute little container and trying to sneak it downstairs into her room. When asked about her little plan she said that she really wants to grow a baby chicken.

All I could think to tell her was that because the egg was refrigerated, that the baby chicken wasn't alive. Dumb, dumb answer, but maybe sufficient for her innocent mind. It gives me stress to think of eventually giving her the "talk." For now I am just cracking up--literally. We may have baby chickens for breakfast in the morning.

Mom, I am starving.

(Comment/Complaint around bed time after not eating or even trying his dinner. Even after PLENTY of chances and warnings that for him, there will not be any treats tonight!)

Mom, you know that there are people in Chinese that are starving too.
Wy, are you like a little starving China boy?

Yes, and I am madder than a wet HORNET. Even a wet CAT!

My mom always used to say that she could raise dozens if children if she didn't have to feed them. I am feeling the truthfulness of her wisdom tonight.

Happy New Year

To you and yours for wonderful 2009!

Love,

Jeff--missed the "party" and dealt with drunks at work
JaNae--took this snap shot of the PARTY, but was sore and gimping around after she pulled something during a mean bowling tourney on the WII. Pitiful, I know, but I will attest it was intense
Walker--enjoyed kicking his mom's trash in the tournament and was a whiz with the puzzles you see pictured
Whitney--served eggnog and her homemade CC cookies for the festivities
Wyatt--had fun with poppers during our bring in the new year celebration at 10pm; but was grumpy during the shot for some strange reason
Wes--slept through like a baby
